Resources for Schools
- Traidcraft has a selection of downloadable resources catering for a range of ages and subject areas from Geography, to RE, English, and global citizenship. There are lesson plans, activities and assembly ideas.
- We have a copy of the Co-op "Make your school Fairtrade friendly" which is available to borrow, this includes ways of including Fairtrade in many areas of curriculum, and assemblies, as well as games, stories, and recipes.
- CAFOD have materials for schools such as assembly plans and workshops on Trade and Debt.
- SCIAF (Tel: 0141 354 5555) have produced a guide, Make Your Mark, for Scottish schools to become Fairtrade.
These resources are for secondary schools though might be helpful for older primary school children:
- People and Planet have a Fairtrade campaign and provide support for secondary schools with an Action Guide and advice.
- The Young Co-operatives is an initiative to help secondary school students and other young people to establish and run their own co-operative businesses selling Fairtrade products.
- The Fairtrade Foundation has made a video "Fairtrade in Action" and a game, suitable for secondary children. It illustrates Fairtrade with examples of cocoa, rice and banana farmers. We have a copy to lend, email us on info@sandhurstfairtrade.org.uk
- Papapaa (www.papapaa.org) have made a DVD about Fairtrade Cocoa farmers, this has been produced with Day Chocolate and Comic Relief. We have a copy to lend, email us on info@sandhurstfairtrade.org.uk
- www.fairdealtrading.com - produce 'no sweat' trainers, and footballs.
- Fairtrade school uniforms can now be obtained from several outlets.
